Sight Words
1ST AND 2ND Quarter Sight Words- Please review the following sight words with your child every night. Play sight words games that will assist your child in learning and reviewing sight words, and help them learn new sight words.
SIGHT WORD GAMES: Write the words on index cards or on paper squares and use them as flash cards. Play games like 'I spy a sight word'. Place the sight word cards face up in front of your child and say a sight word. Ask your child to find the sight word card that you named. If your child chooses the correct sight word card then they keep it. If they are unable to find the sight word that you named assist them in finding the word and then put the sight word card back with the others. Continue playing the game until your child has identified all the sight words on the cards.
SIGHT WORD MEMORY: Make 2 sets of sight word cards. Place the sight word cards face down with the word facing down so your child can not see the card. Ask your child to choose 2 cards. When your child turns the card over they must name the sight word on each to card. If your child finds a match and names the sight word correctly they keep their match. If your child can not identify the words on the sight word cards, assist them in correctly identifying the word on the cards and the turn the cards face down again. Play the game until all the sight word cards have been correctly name and matched.
